Rorgenwies is a district of the municipality of Eigeltingen in the district of Konstanz in the south of Baden-Württemberg in Germany .

Geographical location

Rorgenwies is located in Hegau , around 20 kilometers northwest of Lake Constance .

The hamlets of Glashütte, Guggenhausen and Öhle, the Geistermühle, Gerstelhof, Hochbuchhof and Thälehof farms and the Gumpenhof and Kappellösch houses belong to Rorgenwies.

history

Rorgenwies is first mentioned in 1150 as Rorigenwisi , the name means "meadow with reed beds ". Until 1862 it belonged to Heudorf , only then did the place become an independent municipality for 115 years. From 1806 to 1810 it was in Württemberg, from 1810 in Baden (Stockach Office).

On January 1, 1977, Rorgenwies was incorporated into the community of Eigeltingen.

The coat of arms of the formerly independent municipality of Rorgenwies shows in a split shield in front three three-ended blue stag poles lying on top of each other in gold, behind in silver a half, red-armored, red-tongued black eagle at the gap.

Culture and sights

Buildings

The late Gothic pilgrimage church of St. Maria with a Romanesque choir tower and baroque furnishings was built between 1720 and 1730.

Regular events

The local music association has held a spring festival every two years since 1977. The Father's Day meeting that takes place is known nationwide both in the district of Konstanz and in the neighboring district of Tuttlingen .
