Ross Elliott

Ross Elliott (born June 18, 1917 in the Bronx , New York , † August 12, 1999 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor .

Life

Elliott began his career at the Orson Welles- founded Mercury Theater . In 1938 he was one of the speakers for the radio play production of War of the Worlds . From 1943 he played minor roles in feature films , often without being named in the credits. He first had a bigger role in 1952 in Fernruf from Chicago . Other roles in B-Movies such as Dinosaurs in New York and Tarantula followed, but he never managed to establish himself in the film business. Film engagements such as Was this woman so everything drives (1963) or Shock Trupp Gold (1970) remained the exception.

Elliott's television career was much more successful, he appeared as a guest star in over 100 television series between the 1950s and 1980s . He also had the recurring role of Sheriff Abbott in the western series The People of the Shiloh Ranch from 1962 to 1971 .

1986 Elliott retired from show business.

Ross Elliott died of cancer on August 12, 1999 at the age of 82. He left behind his wife Sue and his sister.
