The Rosumowskyj Palace ( Ukrainian Палац Розумовського Palaz Rosumowskoho ; Russian Дворец Разумовского Dworez Rasumowskowo ) was the last residence of the Hetman of Zaporozhye Cossacks Field Marshal Count Kyrylo Rosumowskyj in Baturyn .

The up in 1803 by the Scottish architect in 1799 Charles Cameron built neoclassical palace is an architectural monument and is available as part of the "Hetman residence" under monument protection . It is the only one of the buildings built by Charles Cameron in Ukraine.

The ensemble consists of the palace, two outbuildings and a park.

The relatively small and very compact three-storey main building has 55 rooms and has a portico with eight Ionic columns on the main facade, which start on the first floor and extend to the triangular gable.

Geographical location

The Rosumowskyj Palace is surrounded by a park, 500 meters to the left bank of the Seim in the urban-type settlement Baturyn ( Rajon Bakhmach ) in the Ukrainian Oblast Chernihiv . The M 02 trunk road ( European route 101 ), which connects Kiev with Moscow , runs east of the park .

renovation

The palace was restored in 1911 and 1967, but by the end of the 20th century it was again in a dilapidated state and the outbuildings and park were destroyed. From 2004, following a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2002, the palace was extensively renovated and reopened on August 22, 2009 by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko .
