The red puddle has its source in a moor near the Finkenburg, northwest of Schlettau . At the moorland, it absorbs the water from the Wolfersbach and initially flows south towards the Scheibenberg . After about two kilometers it turns in the direction of Schlettau and then flows north at Schlettau Castle into the Zschopau.

Others

The former mining area of ​​the city of Schlettau is located on the Krummen Weg north of the Rote Pfütze. The mouth hole is only provided with a water passage. Access to the Grüner Zweig treasure trove with the grace of God adit is via a bucket on the river.
