Red Muscat is a white wine variety with a strong muscat bouquet, which arose as a mutation from the Yellow Muscat . The berry is medium-sized and reddish in color. Except for the berry color, all other characteristics of the two varieties are identical.
distribution
In Germany , although it is approved in all growing areas , it was not able to establish itself. Small stands are also known in Austria , France (316 hectares, as of 2007,) and Greece .
Ampelographic varietal characteristics
- The shoot tip is open. It is slightly woolly hairy with a slightly reddish-bronze tinge. The bronze-colored young leaves are slightly hairy and shiny.
- The medium-sized, thick leaves are rounded (usually longer than wide), five-lobed and clearly indented. The stem bay is open in a V-shape. The sheet is serrated to a point. The teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) is slightly blistered.
- The cylindrical grape is hardly shouldered, large, long and medium-sized with dense berries. The round to slightly elongated berries are medium-sized and slightly reddish in color. The skin of the berry is thick. The aroma of the juicy berry is fine and has an aromatic bouquet with a pronounced nutmeg taste.
