Red sand

Rothensand is a district of the Hirschaid community with 362 inhabitants. The place is between Sassanfahrt and Kleinbuchfeld in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg .

history

In 915, Priest Niethard handed over the town of Rotensant to the monastery in Fulda, along with other properties . The name arose from the yellow-red sandy soil of the Räto-Liasplatte . Ecclesiastically, Rothensand belonged to the Seussling mother parish until 1455 and was later assigned to Schnaid . Rothensand belongs to the Archdiocese of Bamberg .

The place was incorporated into Hirschaid on May 1, 1978.
