Juliushof is a district of Hirschaid in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg .

geography

Juliushof is located west of Sassanfahrt on the road to Rothensand . Five kilometers east of the village, the terrain drops rapidly from Franconian Switzerland to the Regnitz valley and to the west it rises again to the Steigerwald .

Spread of Germanic tribes around 50 AD.

history

The area was already settled at the turn of the times and belonged to the area of distribution of the Narisker (see map). The finds of some cremation graves from the Roman Empire in the area of Juliushof prove this and are protected as ground monuments.

The hamlet was founded around 1790 by Count Julius von Soden (1754–1831) and is named after him. The Bavarian original cadastre shows the Juliushof in the 1810s as a wasteland with a yard and three farm buildings. The place remained agricultural until the end of the 20th century.

To the west of the originally only a few houses, a new development area with 150 building sites was built in the 2000s, which had grown to 558 residents by 2019.

Since 2013 there has been a kindergarten run by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt .

traffic

Municipal roads open up Juliushof to the district road BA 25 , which runs south of the town in an east-west direction . The local public transport serves Juliushof in the new development area with the VGN bus route 988. However, this has more of a school bus character and offers a single journey to Ebrach in the morning and two return journeys in the afternoon. There is an hourly boarding option for the R 2 , three kilometers away in Hirschaid.
