Seigendorf is a village in Upper Franconia with a population of around 800 . It belongs to the Hirschaid market in the Bamberg district and is located east of Hirschaid on the A 73 and at an average altitude of 273 meters above sea level .

history

Seigendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1096 as "Sichendorf", named after the founder of the village, Sicho. The community consisted of Ober- and Niederseigendorf, which were mentioned in 1315. The von Streitberg, from 1691 the von Stauffenberg taverns, owned half the tithe as an imperial fiefdom. Feudal people were initially the Zollner, then the Nuremberg citizens Held, called Hagelsheimer, then the Böttinger. The peasant rebel Koller made it notorious during the Peasants' War. The place parishes to the original parish of Buttenheim . That was also the former school location. A school for Seigendorf and Friesen was established in 1811. In 1879 the old school building was replaced by a new one (in Oberseigendorf).

The place was incorporated into Hirschaid on January 1, 1972.
