Frisians (Hirschaid)

Friesen is a district of the Hirschaid market with 387 inhabitants (as of March 13, 2019). Friesen lies between Wernsdorf , which belongs to the municipality of Strullendorf , and Seigendorf , which belongs to the municipality of Hirschaid .

history

Friesen was first mentioned in a document as "Vräsen" in 1216. The name indicates a settlement in the time of the Frankish king Charlemagne . The place consists of three parts: Oberfriesen, Unterfriesen and Köppelhof. Ecclesiastically, Friesen belongs to the parish of Buttenheim . Buttenheim was also the school location for the students from Friesen. It was not until 1811 that the pupils attended the school in Seigendorf. A church has existed in Friesen since 1867.

The place was incorporated into Hirschaid on January 1, 1972.
