Burgstall Friesener Warte

The Burgstall Friesener Warte is an abandoned hilltop castle on a 519 meter high edge of the Friesener Warte north of the Friesen part of the market in Hirschaid in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg in Bavaria .

The former castle was probably an early medieval ring wall system within a prehistoric late Celtic fortification, which was probably used as a refuge . The castle stable , indicated by an information board, consists of an earth wall. Both systems were largely leveled when the Friesener Warte glider airfield was built .
