Bjorn-Uwe Abels

Björn-Uwe Abels (born July 20, 1941 in Berlin ) is a prehistoric archaeologist and was the main conservator of the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments at the Memmelsdorf office .

Employment

After studying prehistory in Tübingen , which he completed with a doctorate in 1970, Abels began working in the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation in the Würzburg branch in 1971. In 1976 he moved to Schloss Seehof in Memmelsdorf and initially headed the branch office there and, from 2002, the new Section IV B Upper Franconia / Lower Franconia for the preservation of historical monuments . His research focused on the late Bronze Age Heunischenburg , the Ehrenbürg and the Celtic oppidum on the Staffelberg . In addition, he took on a variety of public representation for the interests of archeology , such. B. Various lectures in front of foundations , exhibitions , historical associations and at the day of the open monument . In July 2006 he retired.

As an honorary professor at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität (Department of Archaeological Sciences), he held lectures there on his special fields between 1978/79 and 2005/06 , such as: B. for the early La Tène period settlement of northeast Bavaria .
