Rotis is a hamlet of Hofs , a district of the large district town Leutkirch im Allgäu in the district of Ravensburg , in Baden-Württemberg .
description
Rotis is located on the 7916 district road leading from Leutkirch via Hasenberg and Rotis to Legau . The "Hofser Ach" flows through Rotis. The place consists of six former agricultural properties with a total of 35 inhabitants. It borders Lautrach in the northwest and Legau in the east.
In Rotis there is an abandoned castle with a castle mill. The castle mill and today's Rotismühle was first mentioned in a document in 1414. As early as 1398, the castle and hamlet of Rotis were sold by Mark and Hans von Neidegg to the Lords of Schellenberg . In 1542 Rotis came to Weingarten Monastery together with Hofs . The castle ruins were demolished in 1813. Rotis is the namesake of Rotis a font family that the graphic designer and co-founder of the Ulm School of Design Otl Aicher developed. Aicher and his wife, the writer Inge Aicher-Scholl , acquired the Rotis mill with the adjacent hydroelectric power station in 1972 .
