history

Wilhelm Frank was founded in 1935 by Wilhelm and Elfriede O. Frank in Stuttgart. Wilhelm Frank invented Roto N, the first industrially manufactured Tilt & Turn hardware with which it was not only possible to turn a window sash, but also to tilt it. He applied for a patent for it in 1935 and developed it for series production. Two years later, Frank presented the Roto attic staircase at the Leipzig trade fair . In 1938 the company moved to Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen; In the same year Frank developed a turn-tilt hardware technology with two-handle operation, Roto Rekord, and in 1968 Frank presented the world's first roof window construction that could be folded down, the Roto residential roof window.

In 1989 the company was renamed Roto Frank AG, further systems were developed and a new, internationally uniform brand logo was introduced.
