The rouloir is a river in France that runs in the Normandy region . It rises near the hamlet of La Blondelière in the municipality of Saint-Ouen-sur-Iton , has the name Lemme , later Lême , in the upper reaches and generally drains in a northeastern direction. At the town of Le Champ Motteux in the municipality of Les Baux-de-Breteuil, the river seeps into the subsoil and forms a dry valley around 14 kilometers long . Only at Conches-en-Ouche does the water reappear and form the lake Étang du Vieux Conches . From here the river is now called Rouloir and after a total of 49 kilometers flows into the municipality of Glisolles as a left tributary into the Iton , which is also called Sec Iton here because it was only endowed with water from a karst spring just a few kilometers above . On its way, the rouloir crosses the Orne and Eure departments .

Hydrology

The river has a very irregular flow. In the dry season, the Lemme source brook carries extremely little water and ultimately seeps away completely underground. At Conches-en-Ouche, the water at the source at Maison verte comes to the surface again, but here too the water dried up completely for around 2 weeks in winter 2008.
