Rouven Lotz

Rouven Lotz (* 1977 ) is a German art historian and museum director .

Life

Rouven Lotz studied art history at the Ruhr University Bochum and comparative textile science (cultural history) at the Technical University of Dortmund .

During his studies he already worked at the Osthaus Museum Hagen and between 1999 and 2002 regularly sat in at the Jewish Museum Berlin , which was reopened during this time. From 2007 to 2009 he was a research volunteer at the Osthaus Museum, which since 2009 - together with the newly established Emil Schumacher Museum operated by the non-profit Emil Schumacher Foundation - has been forming the so-called Kunstquartier Hagen .

In 2009, Rouven Lotz was elected Managing Director of the Henry van de Velde Society . Initially entrusted with the tasks of curator since 2010, Lotz became scientific director of the Emil Schumacher Museum in Hagen in 2011 , where he has since established an extensive supporting program in addition to an ambitious exhibition program. From 2011 to 2013 he also held a lectureship in art history at the Department of Art and Art Studies at the Technical University of Dortmund. In May 2016, Rouven Lotz was appointed to the permanent committee for redesigning the exhibitions at the Hagen City Museum.

As a curator, Lotz is responsible for numerous exhibitions by the painter Emil Schumacher as well as major exhibitions and the like. a. on Karel Appel , Peter Brüning , Gerhard Hoehme , Norbert Kricke , KRH Sonderborg , Zdeněk Sýkora and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec .

Volunteering

Since 2009 Lotz has been the managing director of Henry van de Velde- Gesellschaft e. V. in Hagen. In 2013 he was also appointed as the successor to Manfred Osthaus on the board of the Henry van de Velde-Gesellschaft Sachsen e. V. elected in Chemnitz. Since March 2015 Lotz has been a member of the advisory board of the Karl Ernst Osthaus- Bund e. V. In August 2017 he was appointed chairman of the board of trustees of the newly founded association "Geschichtsfreunde Hagen - Museums- und Archivverein e.V." elected.
