The Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake (RLGC), also Royal Liverpool Village Golf Club at Hoylake , Royal Liverpool for short , is one of the premium golf clubs in the United Kingdom , north of the St. George's Canal , on the coast of the Irish Sea lies. Located on the Wirral Peninsula , it is only separated from the metropolis of Liverpool ( Merseyside ) by the mouth of the River Mersey .

It is a representative of the links courses that are typical of "original" golf and has been part of the Rota, known as the Rota , of courses that are allowed to host the open British golf championships since 1897 .
