history

The village was founded in the 14th century (around 1312-1314). The original name " Rosengart " or " Rosengarten " is probably a derivative of the name " Roßgarten ".

In the 16th century, Mennonite settlers who came to this region from the Netherlands also settled in Rosengart.

The Mennonite community of Rosengart belonged to the municipality of Thiensdorf-Pr. Rose garden; Mennonite houses of worship were in Markushof (today: Markusy ) and Thiensdorf (today: Jezioro ).

In 1890 a separate Mennonite church was finally built in Pr. Rosengart; the church was devastated during the Second World War. It is used today as a now Catholic church.

From 1920 to 1945 the village belonged to East Prussia , after the Second World War the place came to Poland.

Population numbers

In 1773, 299 people in 59 families lived in Pr. Rosengart.

In 1939 the population was 384 (of which 217 were Protestants, 108 Catholics, 59 others - almost without exception Mennonites).

Today (as of 2010) around 150 people live in Rozgart.
