Ruben Jonas Schnell (born September 12, 1968 in Hanover ) is a German music journalist and founder of the Internet radio station ByteFM .

Life

Ruben studied after graduating from high school in 1987 at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hanover 1990-1992 musicology and American Studies at Freiburg from 1992 to 1993 in the USA ( Eugene, Oregon ) and most recently in Hamburg. He gained his first experience as a music editor at the beginning of the 1990s in Freiburg at the non-commercial broadcaster Radio Dreyeckland . He then moved to Hamburg and worked for ARD , where he worked with HR editor Klaus Walter ( The ball is round ) on the music program “Black and White - Music in Color”. The program was broadcast until 2004.

In the winter of 2001 he accompanied Die Goldenen Zitronen to Bucharest to record their punk album Schafott zum Aufzüge .

Since 2002 Schnell has moderated the music program “Nachtclub”, which is broadcast every Saturday night from midnight on the radio station NDR Info , as well as the “Nachtclub Magazin”. In 2007 he was accepted into the jury that awards the German Record Critics' Prize.

In 2007 Ruben Jonas Schnell founded the Internet radio ByteFM , of which he is the managing director. It started operations in January 2008. He holds 90 percent of the shares in the GmbH .
