The surfer Steve Addington returns to his hometown of Malibu back. There he finds that his club has a new sponsor calling on Addington to appear in video games and television shows. He declines these requests and wants to spend his vacation surfing, but the big waves stay away. Addington runs out of money, forcing him to perform for which his manager Jack and mentor prepare him. Addington starts a relationship with Danni Martin.
