Rudolf Bernhardt (lawyer)

Rudolf Bernhardt (born June 11, 1904 in Annaberg , † after 1970 ) was a German lawyer and local politician . During the time of National Socialism he was mayor of the district town of Großenhain in Saxony from 1933 to 1945 and then a victim of Stalinism . Most recently he was managing director of the German Hospital Society in Düsseldorf and head of Department I of the society.

Life

Rudolf Bernhardt came from the capital of the Upper Ore Mountains and attended secondary school in the district city of Chemnitz until 1924 . He then studied law, political science and economics at the universities of Tübingen, Munich and Leipzig. He received his doctorate as Dr. jur. From March 1928 Rudolf Bernhardt was a consultant, candidate and unskilled worker in a law firm. In August 1931 he became an assessor at the administrative authority in Grossenhain , and at the same time credit officer. He was promoted to District Assessor and appointed to Government Assessor in May 1933. As such, he worked at the district offices in Pirna and Annaberg. In the same year he was appointed first mayor of the district town of Großenhain.

Bernhardt was a member of the NSDAP , SA-Scharführer and member of the Association of National Socialist German Jurists (BNSDJ).

In 1945 Rudolf Bernhardt was imprisoned by the Soviet occupying forces in the special camps in Bautzen and Buchenwald . His dismissal took place in February 1950. A few years later he left the newly founded German Democratic Republic (GDR) in order to build a new life in West Germany. He initially worked for the Inner Mission in Bochum .

Bernhardt became managing director of the German Hospital Society and head of Department I (Personnel Committee) of the company. Its official farewell took place on November 12, 1970 in Düsseldorf .
