Rudolf Cohen

Rudolf Cohen (born June 13, 1932 in Munich ; † April 30, 2018 there ) was a German psychologist and university lecturer .

Cohen studied in Munich and Hamburg . He received his doctorate in 1961 and completed his habilitation in 1968. From 1969 he researched and taught at the University of Konstanz at the chair for clinical and differential psychology . The focus of his research was, among other things, psychophysiological studies on the processing of information by chronically schizophrenic patients and behavioral therapy in schizophrenic and alcoholic patients.

From 1992 to 1996 Cohen was Vice President of the German Research Foundation . From 1996 until his retirement in 2000 he was Rector of the University of Constance, succeeding Bernd Rüthers . For his services as a scientist and rector - during his term of office a new constitution of the University of Konstanz came into force - Rudolf Cohen received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class. In 1993 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina Scholars' Academy ; from 1996 he was a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences .
