Horst Sund

Horst Sund (born October 16, 1926 in Hamburg ) is a German chemist and biochemist . He was rector of the University of Konstanz from 1976 to 1991.

Life

Horst Sund studied at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and was there in 1957 with a thesis on the constitution of the coenzyme substrate compounds doctorate . In 1964 he completed his habilitation with a paper on glutamic acid dehydrogenesis.

It was founded in 1967 Constance on a chair in the Department of Biology at the University appointed , he until his retirement held. Between 1976 and 1991 he was Rector of the University of Konstanz , and several times Vice-Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Biology . In 1990 he initiated a cooperation between the University of Konstanz and the National Economic University of Kiev .

Act

Sund was a board member of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) from 1988 . He was chairman of the Baden-Württemberg State Rectors 'Conference (1980–1984) and a member of the Senate of the West German Rectors' Conference (1979–1986), the commission to investigate the effects of the University Framework Act (1983/1984) and the structure committee of the Science Council for the preparation of opinions on University development in the new federal states (1990–1993). He was a member of the external expert commission that evaluated the University of Augsburg from 1991 to 1994 , and from 1998 to 2005 he was a member of the University Council of the University of Augsburg. He has also been chairman of the "Association of Alumni of the University of Konstanz" (VEUK e.V.) since 2004

Horst Sund is honorary chairman of the Baden-Württemberg China Society and has been a member of the advisory board of the Chinese-German college at Tongji University in Shanghai since 1999. In 1999, he was also appointed a member of the Academic Committee of the Nanjing Institute for Geography and Limnology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a member of the committee for the establishment of the German-speaking Foundation University in Istanbul .
