Rudolf Cruel

Rudolf Cruel (born August 23, 1820 in Schötmar (today: Bad Salzuflen ), † June 8, 1892 in Detmold ) was a German poet , non-fiction author and school principal.

Life

Rudolf Cruel was born in Schötmar in 1820 as the son of a pastor. Cruel was the Lippe State Syndicate when his father died prematurely in 1834. The boy continued to attend the Leopoldinum grammar school in Detmold, where he was a schoolmate of Georg Rosen . After finishing school, he first studied theology for seven semesters in Jena and Bonn , as his father wanted . But to compete rather than a parish, he moved instead to the teaching profession and was in 1848 Rectors in position and was a member of the local superintendent. From 1857 to 1868 he worked as the rector of the secondary school for girls in Detmold. Due to illness, he had to give up his position at the age of 48. After his active apprenticeship he continued to live in Detmold, where he worked as a writer. He died there in June 1892 at the age of 71.

Cruels' journalistic activity began in 1879. Several non-fiction books and a volume of poetry were published by him.
