Rudolf Flex

Rudolf Flex (born November 12, 1855 in Jena , † July 22, 1918 in Eisenach ) was a German writer and poet .

Life

The son of the teacher Gottlieb Flex in Jena and Clothilde Luise Rothe from Königshain attended the grammar school in Weimar . He studied classical philology and linguistics in Jena and Berlin . During his studies in 1874 he became a member of the Arminia fraternity in the castle cellar . In 1879 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD .

After his studies he worked as a private tutor in Ilberstedt . After passing the senior teacher examination in Jena in 1882, Flex taught at the Karl-Friedrich-Gymnasium in Eisenach (preferably old languages), in 1882 as a trial candidate, in 1883 as a provisional and full teacher, and from 1899 as a professor. In 1885 he married the merchant's daughter Margarete Pollack. They had four children together, one son was Walter Flex .

From Bismarck excited politics, he was a member of various patriotic associations include: National Liberal Empire Association, National Liberal Party (twice unsuccessful candidacy in parliamentary elections) and National Association against social democracy . He was a member, 1903 chairman and later honorary chairman of the Eisenacher Volksbildungsverein. He campaigned for the erection of the Bismarckian Column and the Carl Alexander Monument in Eisenach. Flex was a co-founder of the Literary Society and was a member of the city theater committee for many years. Together with nine other fraternity members he founded the fraternity monument association ; When the foundation stone was laid for the monument, he gave the commemorative speech in 1897.

He wrote poems and poetic preludes for patriotic celebrations.
