Rudolf Gottfried Christian Iffland (born December 17, 1788 in Groß Möringen , † November 8, 1857 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

Rudolf Gottfried Christian was the son of the preacher of the same name in Groß Möringen. He married Maria Wilhelmine, divorced Kettler, née Weber (1786-1853) in Berlin in 1815. The sons Karl Roderich (* 1824) and Max Rudolf (* 1825) emerged from the marriage.

Career

After studying theology , he volunteered in the 6th Kurmärkische Landwehr Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army in 1813 . In the same year he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and took part in the wars of liberation . Here he earned the Iron Cross 2nd class. In 1814 he became a regimental adjutant .

In 1816 he belonged to the paid tribe of the 3rd Potsdam Landwehr Regiment, rose to prime lieutenant in 1818 and moved to the adjutantage. In 1822 he received the Order of the Red Eagle IV class, in 1834 the Order of St. Anne II and in 1835 the Order of St. Vladimir III. Class. Also in 1835 he received his promotion to major and was aggregated to the 24th Infantry Regiment if his position was retained . After he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III in 1843. Class was awarded with bow, he was promoted in 1845 to Lieutenant Colonel and 1848 to Colonel . In 1848 he moved to the board of directors of the Secret War Chancellery, where in 1849 he was initially assigned the interim management of the disabled, but then headed the department. In 1856 he has his farewell as a major general with pension received and was on the 1857 Old Garrison Cemetery buried.
