Rudolf Hecker (doctor)

Rudolf Hecker (born October 21, 1868 in Munich , † February 27, 1963 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German pediatrician and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school in Munich, Rudolf Hecker devoted himself to studying medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , which he completed in 1892 with the academic degree of Dr. med. completed. After a brief activity as a ship's doctor , Hecker held assistant positions in Augsburg , Berlin , Prague and Vienna before moving to the University Children's Hospital in Munich in 1896, where he completed his habilitation in 1898 . Hecker received an extraordinary professorship there in 1910 , which he held until 1937.

In 1898, Hecker and Joseph Trumpp founded a children's outpatient clinic in Munich, which was taken over to the Schwabing hospital a short time later . The focus of his research was on nutritional damage and rickets in infants.

Hecker's son Peter Hecker , who was born in 1899, was District Administrator of the Munich district from 1948 to 1970.
