Rudolf Heckl
Rudolf Heckl (born February 20, 1900 in Eger , Austria-Hungary ; † December 12, 1967 in Munich ) was an Austrian architect , farmer , folklorist and university professor .
Life
Born in Egerland, Rudolf Eckl studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology from 1919 to 1921 , where he initially worked in urban development. In 1925 he came to Gmunden , where he managed the Oberholzingergut (Schlagen 34) until 1939. This also brought him to systematic farmhouse research and to the scientific study of the farmhouse. In 1939, E. Kulke appointed Heckl head of the German Farm Center in Upper Danube, which was responsible for farmhouse research and agricultural construction advice. In 1943 he became head of the construction department of the Upper Danube regional farming community and in 1944 was given a teaching position for agricultural construction at the Technical University of Linz-Wilhering , where he set up a settlement institute and, with students, approached the systematic recording of Upper Austrian farms. Shortly before the end of the war he was given a chair for agricultural construction in Munich .
After the Second World War , he worked in the agricultural department of Upper Austria and was responsible for the planning of reconstruction farms and the creation of example farms, he also taught at rural training schools in Upper Austria and headed the settlement and house construction work group of the regional office for folk culture at the Upper Austrian regional museum . From 1946 to 1948 he received a research assignment for the Upper Austrian building guide from the regional building authorities. In 1954 he became construction consultant for the Austrian Board of Trustees for Agricultural Engineering. Study trips took him to the USA in 1952 .
Heckl published numerous scientific papers in the field of Central European farmhouse research. His spiritual role models were Adalbert Klaar and Bruno Schier .
