Rudolf I (Stade)

Rudolf I of Stade (* 11th century ; † December 7, 1124 ) was Count of Stade and Margrave of the Nordmark (1106–1114).

Life

Rudolf was a son of Lothar Udo II von Stade and Oda von Werl . In 1106 he became Margrave of the Nordmark after the death of his brother Lothar Udo III. as guardian for his son Heinrich II.

In 1112 he was deposed by Emperor Heinrich V as a follower of Duke Lothar of Saxony . Helperich von Plötzkau became the new margrave . In June 1112 he was rehabilitated. In 1114 he gave the margraviate to Heinrich II. In 1124 Rudolf, his wife Richgard and their blood relative Meginhard von Sponheim furnished the new Sponheim monastery with goods. At the end of that year Rudolf died on December 24th.

Rudolf was married to Richardis (Richgard), daughter of Hermann von Spanheim , burgrave of Magdeburg .
