Rudolf Löhner
Alois Oskar Rudolf Löhner (* July 22, 1890 in Zuckmantel , Austrian Silesia , † February 15, 1971 in Dresden ) was a sculptor born in Austria-Hungary who lived and worked mainly in Dresden.
From 1908 to 1911 Löhner studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden with Richard Müller and Selmar Werner . He was a master student with Georg Wrba and learned from August Gaul in Berlin . After completing his studies, he first worked as an animal sculptor and produced various animal figures for the Meissen porcelain factory . He later created animal statues for the Dresden rose garden, among others . He later received the great Saxon State Prize (Rome Prize) and was a member of the Dresden Artists' Association . He then took part in the international art exhibition in Dresden and the exhibition in Leipzig. He was also a member of the Dresden artist group Das Ufer - Gruppe in 1947 .
Löhner was a member of the NSDAP during the National Socialist era . In the 1950s, Löhner, who lived in Dresden, created figural statues and sandstone reliefs for the Centrum Warenhaus am Altmarkt . In addition, he created numerous works in conformity with the state, including the iron sculpture Young Tractorist (1953) and his last work was a statue of the “worker poet” Martin Andersen Nexø in the style of contemporary Lenin sculptures.
