Rudolf Marschall (sculptor)
Rudolf Marschall (born December 3, 1873 in Vienna ; † July 24, 1967 there ) was an Austrian sculptor , plaque artist and medalist .
Life
Marschall studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts , where he was a student of Josef Tautenhayn . In 1903 Marschall was appointed chamber medalist , and from 1904 he taught himself as a professor at the Vienna Academy. He headed the local master school for engraving and medal making (from 1905 to 1938). In 1944 he retired.
Rudolf Marschall created portraits , medals and plaques , for example of various popes and members of the imperial family as well as for various tombs. An extensive collection of medals is now in the holdings of the Vienna Army History Museum .
