Rudolf Nemetschke (born May 9, 1902 in Vienna ; † June 5, 1980 in Bad Ischl ) was an Austrian industrialist and sports official.

Life

Nemetschke received his doctorate from the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna . Since the early 1940s Rudolf Nemetschke was with Mary, geb. Sodtmann-Tillmanns, the marriage remained childless. He had residences in Vienna and Burgau am Attersee .

In addition to his career as an entrepreneur - among other things, he was head of the construction company H. Rella & Co in Vienna from 1940 to 1979 as well as President of Fiat Austria and Honorary President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Austria - he was involved in numerous functions as a sports official.

President of the Federal Association for Riding and Driving in Austria (BFV) and the Austrian Sailing Association (OeSV).

As long-time Vice President of the ÖOC , he took up this position in 1956, and - from 1969 to 1976 - as a member of the International Olympic Committee , he was one of the key figures in the organization of the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . After the cancellation of the city of Denver , Colorado, he managed to bring the games to Innsbruck again. This gave Austria a second seat in the IOC . According to the IOC rules, he should have resigned in 1974 (at the age of 72). The IOC changed the rules for him so that he could still be an IOC member at his games in Innsbruck.

From 1948 to 1974 he was president, then honorary member and commodore of the Union-Yacht-Club Attersee (UYCAS), one of the oldest and largest sailing clubs in Austria. Nemetschke was an enthusiastic special class sailor, including the yacht S 68 "Marion" in his possession. In 1965 he donated the Burgau Cup.
