Rudolf Reiff , born as Rudolf Otto Curt Reif (born November 9, 1901 in Leipzig , † April 1961 ) was a German actor .

The carpenter's son Reiff, mostly written in Reif, received his training from Otto Stoeckel at the theater school of the Leipziger Schauspielhaus and began his first engagement in Flensburg in 1921 . This was followed by engagements at venues in Hanover , Breslau , Wiesbaden and finally to Prague , where he worked at the Deutsches Theater until all stages were closed in 1944 . After the war he continued his career at the Staatstheater Oldenburg , the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt and the Munich theaters of the Kammerspiele and Residenz-Theater .

Reiff's best-known roles include Brigadier General Ezra Mannon in Eugene O'Neill's Trauer muss Elektra and Lennie in John Steinbeck's Von Mäusen und Menschen - both roles in the German premiere - as well as Henry VIII in The Sixth Woman , who Thoas in Iphigenie auf Tauris , César in Der goldene Anker and the Junker Tobias Rülp (in the original: Sir Toby Belch) in William Shakespeare's What you want .

Film, radio, television

Since the late phase of the Second World War, the cinema also gained importance in Rudolf Reiff's professional career. By the mid-50s, Reiff took over a large number of character batches there without attracting much attention. His career ended at the end of the same decade with a few offers from television. Most recently the artist lived in Grünwald near Munich.

Reiff has also worked for the radio (General Harras in a radio play version of Carl Zuckmayer's drama Des Teufels General ) and was used as a German dubbing voice in numerous films.
