Rudolf "Rudi" Schneider (born December 3, 1921 in Lauter / Sa. , † September 12, 1986 ) was a soccer player from the GDR .

Schneider played for the BSG Empor Lauter until 1954 . For the Erzgebirge he played 54 league games and scored eight goals.

When the Empor Lauter players were delegated to the newly founded SC Empor Rostock in November 1954 , he went as one of twelve Empor players from the Ore Mountains to the Baltic Sea coast. When SC Empor Rostock played its first league game against Chemie Karl-Marx-Stadt in the Ostseestadion on November 14, 1954 , Schneider was on the starting line-up. In this first season from Empor Rostock he played all 18 games. In the transitional season 1955 with thirteen game days, he came to twelve league inserts. He scored his only goal for Empor in the 1956 season . At the end of the season he rose with Rostock as bottom of the table; Schneider had played 24 games. In the following GDR league season he played 13 times and managed direct resurgence with Rostock.

During his time with the Hanseatic League, Schneider played twelve times in the FDGB Cup . In 1955 and 1957 he reached the final and was in the starting eleven of the final game. He didn't win a title. In 1955 the final went 2: 3 after extra time against SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt and in 1957 lost 1: 2 after extra time against SC Lok Leipzig .

Schneider later worked as a youth coach in Rostock.

Private

In October 1949 his son Dieter Schneider was born. He later played for FC Hansa Rostock for 18 years and made 349 league appearances.
