Rudolf Steinmetz (theologian, 1832)

Friedrich Wilhelm Rudolf Steinmetz (born November 6, 1832 in Moringen ; † May 12, 1921 in Göttingen ) was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian and superintendent .

Life

Steinmetz was born as the son of the theologian Rudolf Steinmetz . At the age of 17 he began studying law in Göttingen , but soon switched to theology. Later he was director of the school teachers' seminar in Hanover . From 1870 to 1879 he held the position of monastery preacher in Loccum until he became superintendent in Göttingen in 1878, where he initially worked at the St. John's Church and from 1882 to 1910 at the St. Albani Church . From 1891 to 1905 he sat for the district of Göttingen-Grubenhagen in the regional synod of the Hanover regional church . His work focused on sermons and home visits. A call to the chair of practical theology at the University of Göttingen in 1882, he turned down in favor of service in the community.

His brother Hermann was also a pastor of the Hanover regional church.
