Rudolf Steinmetz (theologian, 1863)

Rudolf Steinmetz (born November 29, 1863 in Celle ; † February 28, 1940 in Hanover ) was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian and pastor .

Life

Rudolf Steinmetz was born as the son of Pastor Hermann Steinmetz . From 1882 to 1885 he studied theology in Leipzig , Erlangen and Göttingen . After completing his studies, he was first rector in Dorum in 1887 . In 1889 he became pastor at the Marienkirche in Neuenkirchen . Subsequently, from 1906 he was Superintendent of Dransfeld and in 1911 moved to this position in Hannoversch Münden . In 1925 Steinmetz succeeded August Marahrens as general superintendent of the general diocese of Stade . After the National Socialists came to power in 1933, he resigned from this office and worked mainly on historical studies of the general superintendents of the Kingdom of Hanover until his death.
