Rudolf Suhrmann

Rudolf Johannes Suhrmann (born March 9, 1895 in Reichenberg , Bohemia , † September 21, 1971 in Karlsruhe ) was a German chemist and university professor .

Life

Suhrmann was an active army soldier from 1914 to 1917 during the First World War . After the war, he was from 1920 to 1923 assistant at the Physics Institute of the Technical University of Dresden , where he also 1921 Dr. rer. techn. received his doctorate .

He then worked from 1923 to 1933 as a senior assistant at the Physico-Chemical Institute of the Technical University of Wroclaw . There he became a private lecturer in physical chemistry in 1925 . From 1928 to 1933 he was a member of the commission for radiation research of the emergency community of German science . From 1929 to 1931 he was a scientific advisor, from 1930 to 1932 administrator of the professorship for physical chemistry at the TH Breslau.

In the years 1938 to 1945, he worked as a consulting associate at the Laboratory for electron research the company Telefunken . He then moved to Braunschweig , where he was appointed to the Braunschweig Technical University on January 16, 1946 . In 1955 he finally became a full professor for physical chemistry and electrochemistry at the Technical University of Hanover .

Awards

From 1950 he was a member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society . In 1958 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . The Dresden University of Technology awarded him on March 9, 1960, the honorary doctorate of physics "in recognition of his pioneering work on the photoelectric effect and its applications" .
