Rudolf Tönges

Rudolf Tönges (born March 31, 1894 in Welterod ; † March 17, 1968 ibid) was a German farmer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Tönges was born the son of a farmer. After attending primary school, he completed practical training in agriculture and then worked in his parents' business, which he took over in 1925. He had previously participated in the First World War as a soldier . From 1930 until his impeachment in 1934 he worked as a community computer in Welterod. He then returned to his farm, which he handed over to his brother in 1957.

Tönges joined the Christian Democratic Party (CDP) in 1945 , which later became the CDU regional association in Rhineland-Palatinate . In 1946 he was elected to the district council and district committee of the St. Goarshausen district. From 1946 to 1947 he was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate . In the state elections in 1947 , he was elected for the first time as a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament, to which he belonged without interruption until 1963.

From 1945 to 1964 Tönges was honorary mayor of the Welterod community.
