Rudolph Leopold Poeschek (born September 29, 1966 in Terrace , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . During his career, the defender played for the New York Rangers , Winnipeg Jets , Tampa Bay Lightning and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League from 1987 to 2000 .
Career
The New York Rangers secured the rights to Poeschek in the twelfth round in 238th place in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft . He played three years for the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Hockey League , where he established himself as a tenacious enforcer . In the 1987/88 season Poeschek played his first game with the Rangers. In the following season he completed 52 games with the Rangers and finished them with 199 penalty minutes.
Before the 1993/94 season , the Tampa Bay Lightning took him under contract. Poeschek played four seasons with Lightning before he was signed by the St. Louis Blues. He played there for a full year and sometimes two more years. He played one season with the Houston Eros from the IHL before retiring from active sports after the 2000/01 season.
