Rufus 2 is an American film comedy of the TV channel Nickelodeon from the year 2017 . The television film is the sequel to the film Rufus (2016).

The magical amulet that can transform the dog Rufus into the human Rufus has regained its function, at least partially. Only when the person Rufus gets too excited does it fail and Rufus becomes a dog again. His friend and "master" Manny Garcia has a lot of fun with him.

Rufus falls in love with Kat from school, but the girl has a secret and admits that dogs can't stand dogs. Little does he know that his new girlfriend is actually a cat, who can also change her shape with an amulet. But Rufus is blind with love. He makes an appointment with Kat although Manny and his girlfriend Paige have concerns and warn Rufus. They then discover that Kat is wearing an amulet similar to Rufus and even watch her transform into a cat. They outsmart Kat and try to convince Rufus that she is a spy, but as in love as Rufus is, he doesn't believe his human friends.

Uncovered by Manny and Paige, Kat reports on the story of the amulets, according to which the dragons gave the cats three amulets many years ago. One of them was stolen to do evil with. It was passed on and not discovered all these years until Rufus found it. Their enemies are the squirrels, especially the power-hungry Mr. S is after Rufus to steal the amulet from him. Mr. S wants to become a person himself and thus rule the whole world.

Before they know it, Rufus is taken away by an animal catcher. The three of them follow the car, in that it has been put, and come to a large warehouse where Mr. S is putting on the amulet. Together they free Rufus and overpower Mr. S. and his assistant Scott. Surprisingly, Kat's mother now appears in human form, because she wants to bring her daughter and the amulet back to her realm. But since Kat saw so many good things in people and Rufus had even saved her life when a car threatened to run over her, she persuades her mother to leave the amulet with Rufus, because otherwise he would have to remain a dog for the rest of his life. In addition, the amulet is in the best hands / paws with Rufus and from now on she wants to stay close to him and take care of him. That might be necessary because in the distance Mr. S. threatens to come back.
