The Neuburg ruins are the remains of a hilltop castle built in the 10th or 11th century in the canton of Schaffhausen . It is located in Neuhausen am Rheinfall around 300 meters southwest of the Wörth castle on the Ottersbühl. The ruin is also known as the “robber's castle”.
Today the thick foundation walls of the trapezoidal core castle and two trenches with an intermediate wall are still visible . Next to Schlösschen Wörth and Schloss Laufen , the Neuburg is the third and least known castle at the Rhine Falls .
Numerous traces of fire were discovered during the uncovering and conservation work carried out in 1935. It is unclear whether this fire sealed the end of the castle, which is not mentioned in a document.
