Runo Ericksson

Runo Karl Axel Ericksson (born November 13, 1934 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish bass trombonist , violinist and orchestra leader of modern jazz .

Live and act

Ericksson studied at the Music Academy in Stockholm and had further lessons with Sergiu Celibidache , Pierre Boulez and Scola Cantorum in Basel. Around 1966/67 he worked with George Russell in Scandinavia ( The essence ), and during this time with Jan Johansson ( Den Korta Fristen ) and Georg Riedel ( Wolfgang on My Mind ). From 1969 he lived in Switzerland, where he was employed as a soloist, conductor and arranger with the Radio Zurich entertainment orchestra until 1975 . In 1971 he also played with Michel Portal ( Splendid Yzlment ) and with the Wiebelfetzer Workshop ; In 1972 he was one of the founding members of The George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band . In 1980 he had a band with alto saxophonist Daniel Bourquin ; In the same year in Lindau he also recorded his first album under his own name, "Omnibus" for the Swedish Four Leafe Clover label, on which Ericksson also played organ, flute and percussion. In 1978, 1980 and 1981 he worked again with George Gruntz . From 1980–83 he was director of the Uppsala Regional Orchestra. In 1984 he played in the Léon Francioli / Jean-François Bovard Orchestra. As a soloist and also a conductor, he worked with various Swedish orchestras.
