The Roman Catholic Rupertikirche Söbriach in the municipality Obervellach is a branch church of the parish Obervellach . The church, first mentioned in 1496, was renovated in 1824 and restored in 1946.

Building description

The house of God is a late Gothic church with a Romanesque core that was later redesigned in Baroque style . Romanesque opus spicatum was found in the walls of the nave . The church consists of a three-axle nave with a pillar arbor and a one-bay choir with a three-eighth end. The tower with ogival sound windows is crowned by a pointed gable helmet. There is a stone sacrificial table in the arbor.

The nave has a flat ceiling with a surrounding cornice. The wooden gallery with a parapet structured like a pilaster stands on pillars. A stuccoed triumphal arch with acanthus branches connects the nave with the choir. A groin vault rises above the chancel with pilasters .

Facility

The high altar with sacrificial portals was built around 1680. The middle picture from the 18th century shows Saints Rupert and Leonhard , the upper picture shows the Holy Trinity . On the tabernacle is a Rococo statuette of a female saint. The console figures of Holy New Year's Eve and a guardian angel , made around 1700, are placed on the triumphal arch . On the right side altar there is a figurine of the risen Christ, a Johannes Nepomuk from the first half of the 18th century, a holy Rupert from the 17th century, a rosary with a Madonna in an angelic halo and a God the Father made around 1700 . On the south wall of the nave there is a wooden figure of the Man of Sorrows from the 16th century in a small late baroque showcase . A carved figure of St. Michael from the end of the 17th century is kept in the sacristy .
