Ruth García

Ruth García (born March 26, 1987 ) is a Spanish soccer player . She took part in the 2013 European Championship with the Spanish national team.

Athletic career

García began playing football at CD Camporrobles before taking her first steps in higher-class Spanish football at UD Levante in 2004. In the same year, she surprisingly won the title with the junior national team at the U-19 European Championship with a 2-1 win over tournament favorites Germany alongside Miriam Diéguez , Iraia Iturregi and Jade Boho Sayo . As a result, she made her debut in February 2005 in the senior national team.

At club level, García won her first titles in 2005 and 2007 with final victories in the Copa de la Reina competition , and in 2008 she won the championship title in the Superliga Femenina together with Laura del Río García , Maider Castillo Muga and Goretti Donaire . She later became team captain . In summer 2013 she left the club and accepted an offer from the reigning double winner FC Barcelona . In the European Championship finals, which began a few days later, she played two games in the group stage, when she was eliminated in the quarter-finals against later finalists Norway , she was substituted in the second half for Erika Vázquez .
