Life

Ruth Megary grew up in Munich's artists' quarter Schwabing and studied opera singing at the Mozarteum Music Academy in Salzburg from 1943 to 1944. Megary lived in Munich - Schwabing until 2019 . Megary has lived in Haselbach (Lower Bavaria) since 2020 .

Career

For the victory celebration of the 3rd US Infantry Division in Klessheim Castle (Salzburg) on ​​May 8, 1945, Megary was selected as a singer from among the Mozarteum students who remained in Salzburg. To do this, she had to rehearse the songs Summertime and Night and Day . Her appearance meant that she got a permanent job: until the end of the 1950s she was engaged as a singer in the troop support of the 3rd Division.

This was followed by American shows with the actors Margot Hielscher , Paul Dahlke , Fritz Odemar , the Ufa film ballet under the direction of the chief film officer of the American military government Erich Pommer .

Ruth Megary starred in the 1951 film Fanfares of Love , directed by Kurt Hoffmann, alongside Grete Weiser , Georg Thomalla and Dieter Borsche . Ruth Megary played with Gene Kelly in The Devil Makes Tree . Revues, shows and cabaret followed in Zurich and Basel. As the first conferencieuse (in German, English and Italian), Ruth Megary became known in the Munich Apollo Theater , and then in Germany and throughout Europe.
