St. Onge grew up in Connecticut and later in Colorado . At the beginning he also competed in the mogul slope division, only from 2000 did he focus entirely on the aerials discipline. He made his debut in the World Cup on January 22, 1999 in Heavenly , where he finished 13th. He only played part of the next three seasons for school reasons. In 2003 he took part in the world championships for the first time.
St. Onge rose to the top of the world in the 2004/05 season. After a few top 10 results in the previous winters, he won his first World Cup competition on January 9, 2005 at Mont Tremblant , followed by another victory in Deer Valley three weeks later . At the 2005 World Cup , he jumped to sixth place. The 2005/06 season was similarly successful with two World Cup victories. The 2006 Winter Olympics, on the other hand, ended disappointingly with 18th place. After another victory at the beginning of winter, only moderate results followed in the 2006/07 season, the best result in the 2007/08 season was a third place.
St. Onge was far more successful in the winter of 2008/09. He won two more World Cup competitions and took second place in the discipline ranking. He celebrated the greatest success of his career so far at the 2009 World Cup in Inawashiro by winning the gold medal. In the winter of 2009/10, St. Onge did not get beyond 13th place in the World Cup. The best result of the season he achieved at the 2010 Winter Olympics , where he just missed a medal in fourth. In the 2010/11 season he has so far achieved a podium finish in the World Cup.
