Ryse: Son of Rome is a video game from the German developer Crytek , who u. a. is already known from the games Far Cry and Crysis . The title was released as an exclusive for the market launch for the Xbox One on November 22, 2013. On October 10, 2014 it was also released for PC . It is an action adventure or a game based on the principle of hack and slash , which is set in ancient Rome . It follows the life of the Roman centurion named Marius Titus, who rose to become a leading legionnaire in the army.
The game is controlled with the gamepad and via Kinect , with the accompanying legion being controlled with voice commands. In addition to the single player campaign, there is a cooperative multiplayer mode in which joint tasks can be mastered in a gladiator scenario. In the German-language games magazine Gameswelt , the title received 7.5 out of 10 points. Was criticized u. a. The monotonous game structure and the lack of depth of the plot, however, praised the high quality presentation, the catchy combat system and the entertaining multiplayer mode.
In December 2014, Crytek released a compilation of relevant film and some gameplay sequences as a two-hour film in which the entire plot of the game is reproduced.
