São Domingos de Rana (sɐ̃ũ duˈmĩguʃ dɨ ˈʁɐnɐ) is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Cascais in Portugal . In São Domingos de Rana 57,502 people (as of June 30, 2011) live on an area of ​​20.4 km².

The Roman archaeological site Villa romana de Freiria is one of the main attractions of the municipality .

Personalities

The renowned computer science professor José Luis Encarnação was born here in 1941. He founded the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in 1987 in Darmstadt and played a major role in the progress of computer graphics .
