Normal way | Ascent from the Bonn-Matreier hut |
The column head (also written Sailkopf ), a mountain with a height of 3209 m above sea level. A. , is in the Venediger group of the Hohe Tauern in Austria . The summit is about 5 km as the crow flies northeast of Prägraten in East Tyrol . The marked normal ascent from the Bonn-Matreier Hütte is relatively easy to climb in dry and snow-free conditions. When the weather is clear, the summit offers a view of the Hohen Eichham ( 3371 m above sea level ), the Virgental and south to Lasörling .
rise
The normal ascent takes about 1½ hours from the Bonn-Matreier Hütte ( 2750 m above sea level ), first northwards into a cirque , then steeper in a few bends over a scree slope, through a rock channel ( sure-footedness required) and along from Wire rope insurance to the summit with a cross.
A possible starting point for the ascent to the Bonn-Matreier hut is a parking lot (approx. 1700 m above sea level ) above Wallhorn (toll road), from which the hut can be reached in approx. 2½ to 3 hours.
