Søren Skov (born February 21, 1954 in Nyborg ) is a former Danish football player .
Club career
Søren Skov first played for Nyborg BK in his hometown before moving to Odense BK in 1974 .
But after just one season he left the club and joined FC St. Pauli . With the Hamburgers he was able to celebrate relegation at the end of the second division season 1975/76 . For the 1976/77 season , Diethelm Ferner took over training at St. Pauli and led the club to the second division championship and promotion to the first division .
Although he had been a regular at St. Pauli, Skov signed a contract with Cercle Bruges in 1977 . There he played his way straight to the top team, but had to relegate with Cercle at the end of the season from the first division . But already in the following year Cercle Bruges succeeded in direct promotion from Division II . In the following three seasons Bruges could just keep the class, with Skov 1981/82 with 23 goals was the second best scorer in the league.
He then went to US Avellino , but was unable to match his goal quotas from Belgium and left Italy after 16 league games without a hit.
With his new club Hertha BSC Skov played in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1983/84 and reached a midfield position there. Even under Uwe Kliemann , Søren Skov regularly played games without being part of the absolute tribe. At the end of the 1984/85 season , Hertha could just about hold the class.
Then Søren Skov went to Switzerland , where he ended his playing career in 1987 after one season each at FC Winterthur and FC St. Gallen .
National team career
Søren Skov played Denmark's games for both the U-19s (two games) and the U-21s (one goal in four appearances).
In May 1982 national coach Josef Piontek Skov called for the first time in the Danish senior team , for which he made his debut against Sweden . In the same month Søren Skov played two games against Austria and Belgium two games. After that he was no longer called up to the national team.
