Sławka Wielka [ ˈswafka ˈvʲɛlka ] (German: Groß Schläfken ) is a village in the municipality of Kozłowo in Poland. It is located 12 km west of the city of Nidzica and belongs to the powiat Nidzicki , Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1328. The village was the center of a parish in the East Prussian district of Neidenburg .

Based on the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Groß Schläfken belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Groß Schläfken (village and estate), 186 people voted to stay with East Prussia, while Poland did not vote.

In January 1945 the village was captured by Soviet troops.

Parish

Until 1945, Groß Schläfken was a Protestant parish (at times connected with Klein Koslau). The parish included the places Lissaken, Albinshof, Ptackmühle, Roggenhausen, Klein-Schläfken and Waltershausen.
